Keynote Speakers
Lee Babiss, Ph.D., has > 25 years of experience in leading global R&D efforts. Prior to X-Rx Inc., Dr. Babiss served as PPD’s CSO and EVP of discovery innovation, also previously as president and director of pharmaceutical research for F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd, and as vice president of biological sciences and genetics with GlaxoSmithKline.
Jin-Quan Yu, Ph.D., is Frank and Bertha Hupp Professor at Scripps Research Institute. Professor Yu received 2016 MacArthur Fellow for his pioneering new techniques for the functionalization of carbon-hydrogen (C-H) bonds. His work paves the way for the development of versatile and beneficial chemical compounds used in pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and materials science.
Poster Contest
SABPA will provide an opportunity at this meeting for outstanding biomedical and pharmaceutical research to be presented in a poster format for up to 8 authors. Poster presentations provide authors the opportunity to showcase and informally discuss their work with meeting attendees.

History
The annual biomedical forum is one of the flagship events organized by SABPA OC/LA, which gathered elite speakers and attracted more than 250 attendees and 17 event sponsors in 2016. Dr. Robert H. Grubbs, Victor and Elizabeth Atkins Professor of Chemistry at Caltech, the recipient of 2005 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, delivered the event keynote speech talking about his own journey conducting translational research and inventing new technology from discovery to products.
The event participants generally include scientists, entrepreneurs, and hiring managers from local pharmaceutical, medical device and CRO companies as well as well-known professors, research scientists and students from local universities, and representatives from China Life Science Technology Park and other China venture capital investors.
